Different type of Architectural styles for Residential Homes

Common Ranch- Your average ranch home is a one story home that's usually an open floor plan, usually lower pitched roof and tend to be Widder homes. may or may not include a basement.

Bungalow- is a house with a single story, or a second half built into the sloped roof. Bungalows tend to be small in sq ft. and can be seen usually with dormer windows.

Colonial- Colonials normally come in symmetrical shape like rectangle/square, with windows placed symmetrically with the door placed in the middle. typically made of wood, stone or brick.

Cape Cod- a square or rectangle home with one or 1 1/2 stories. With steeply pitched gabled roof. siding usually clapboard or brick. Large central chimney, low ceilings and a centered door.

Prairie- Prairie houses come in two styles—boxy and symmetrical or low-slung and asymmetrical. very low pitched roofs, with wide eaves. one story porches with big square supports.

Split Level- split levels generally 3 different floors separated by a couple steps with open floor plans.

Victorian- a home consisting of many brackets, spindles and patterned shingles. large cylinder rooms. Not many are around and being built anymore.

Contemporary- The modern homes you see and love today in this century are contemporary homes, usually has many big windows and lower pitched roofs.
